POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER

Thankfully, there has been much more education in recent years about PTSD...So, returning war veterans, or victims of other traumatic events, can begin to make sense out of the disruptive images, nightmares or triggers they may be experiencing, and not just feel "crazy" .

Like all mental illness, the symptoms of PTSD fall on a continuum from extremely debilitating to more mild disruption. Also, sometimes symptoms of PTSD are a result of long term exposure as a child to a lack of nurture, fighting adults, or exposure to adult drug/alcohol abuse, to name a few. In other words, a person can experience PTSD from chronically negative situations, not just a single traumatic event.

Eye Movement Desentization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a very effective treatment for the symptoms of PTSD. To learn more, click on my link in the Services Provided page of the website.
